Just a thought

As I was considering this week’s passage: Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” I started to remember when I was younger, I must have heard this verse quoted in every service I attended. Someone would quote this verse while preaching or after a service someone would quote it during conversation.  I often wondered how this verse could be quoted so many times and yet when I looked around, I saw so many defeated Christians.

I have had such a wonderful time unpacking this verse and reading the whole chapter in order to get the context of the scripture.  Paul makes some super huge statements in verses 10-12, it is almost like he is working towards the crescendo of the chapter and then he drops verse 13 on us.  (I imagine if he had a microphone, he would drop it and say “I’m out”)

I look forward to sharing some insight with everyone this Sunday morning but for now let me challenge you to think about something.

What does the mind of peace think about? (Verses 8-9)

I am interested to hear from everyone so when you get some time let me know what you think.  I will be updating and checking the blog at least twice a week.

God Bless

  1. Trust in God! He will provide for your needs, you will not want or need anything as long as you trust and have faith.

  2. At first I thought you had made an error in your question, but as I read and thought about v.8-9 I thought about the things I put in my mind: truth, pure and lovely thoughts along with the other things I have learned from reading God’s word and putting it into practice is what having a mind of peace is.

  3. Yes we have to be of cautious of what let into our minds. There is a battle for truth John 18:36-38 let’s us know this. Jesus said “for this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”
